Time flies.. The Summer Inspiration Camp 2015 is over with lots of funs and inspiration. Students enjoyed discovering the world of technology during their 3 week summer camp. This year OSMO seems to be the most popular for all the kids. More details on OSMO can be found here.
Students in rising Grade 1 to rising Grade 6 learned to write their first computer programme at Code.org and learned the basic concepts of Computer Science with drag and drop programming. This is a game-like, self-directed tutorial which can be continued to learn at their own pace. They used code and created programs, repeat-loops, conditionals and basic algorithms to solve problems and develop interactive games or stories. Featuring characters from the games Angry Birds, Plant vs Zombie or Anna and Elsa, students developed sequential algorithms to move characters from one side of the maze to the other side.
Students in rising G6 group who joined the class in the first week also got a certificate for successful completion the Hour of Code activities. You may view or download the certificate from here. Students in this group are also introduced and practiced keyboarding skills at Typing Club where they have their own accounts to access and continue practicing at their own pace.
The other educational games students explored during the 3 weeks are also listed under the “Bookmarks” on the right side bar. Photo Gallery showing their activities can be accessed below or at http://goo.gl/FbJVmb
